FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is there free parking and any vehicle height restrictions?
- Parking is free – we have a large car park with no height restrictions which is free to use when you visit the museum.
- We also have dedicated Disabled Access parking spaces that are beside the Museum entrance where there is also a ramp for wheelchair access.
Can I buy Bentwaters Cold War Museum (BCWM) Merchandise ?
- Yes – we sell a number of items in the Museum shop as well in our online store that include baseball caps, beanie hats, tea towels, t-shirts, patches, and many other items.
Are Dogs Welcome at the Museum ?
- Yes – dogs are welcome but must stay in the Museum compound where we also keep dog bowls for drinking, and are not permitted inside the Museum.
- Dogs are allowed in our diner / snack bar area
- However, Guide and/or Assistance dogs are allowed inside the museum.
Can I make a donation to the Museum ?
- Absolutely! the museum is run as a not for profit organisation by volunteers.
- All donations to the Museum and Bentwaters Aviation Society are gratefully accepted, and can also include Gift Aid.

Can I Volunteer at the Museum ?
- Yes – we are always looking for volunteers to assist us with the running of the Museum.
- Simply talk to a member of staff at the Musem or email us directly with any queries you might have.
Are you open in the winter months ?
- No – We are open April – October on the first & 3rd Sundays of each month and on public holiday Mondays.
- We use the Winter or “Closed Season” to work on improving the museum for the following years. We undertake maintenance, restoration, and many other tasks during the Winter months to make your visits worthwhile when we are open.
Can I go onto the Airfield ?
- The airfield is totally out of bounds. There are security guards on site who patrol the business park as well as CCTV in operation.
- If you book onto one of our Restoration hanger tours subject to availability in our shop on the day of your visit, then we will travel by minibus around the airfield on the way to our hanger (Hardened Aircraft Shelter).
